To everyone who found F1 through Drive to Survive
Maybe you pressed play on Drive to Survive out of curiosity.
Maybe someone in your life is obsessed with F1, and you wanted to see what the hype was about.
Maybe Netflix just kept pushing it on your home screen until you finally gave in.
And now?
… Now, you find yourself Googling obscure team rivalries at 2 AM.
… Now, you recognize names you never knew existed a month ago.
… Now, you’re suddenly invested in the politics of a sport you don’t even fully understand yet.
If that’s you – welcome! :))

You don’t need to have grown up watching Senna.
You don’t need to have been here before the hybrid era.
You don’t need to pass a quiz on tire compounds or memorize every world champion ever.
If you love this sport, you’re a real F1 fan.
That’s it, that’s literally all you’ve gotta do.
Ignore the gatekeepers – you belong here.
There’s a weird thing that happens in the F1 fandom.
Some people LOVE that Drive to Survive has brought new energy, new fans, and new life to the sport. Others roll their eyes and act like Netflix ruined it – like if you didn’t watch F1 before 2018, your opinion somehow "doesn’t count"
But here’s the TRUTH:
F1 has always been dramatic. The backroom deals, the rivalries, the egos – none of this is new.
More fans = a better, bigger, stronger F1 community.
Nobody gets to decide who’s a “real fan.”
People don’t quiz rugby fans before letting them enjoy a match.
People don’t ask new Marvel fans to prove their dedication before letting them watch Spider-Man.
So if anyone makes you feel like you have to earn your place here, ignore them, they’re being a silly goose.
This sport is for everyone.
It’s okay to not know everything (yet).
F1 is … a lot.
The acronyms.
The endless rule changes.
The way some teams will spend millions of dollars to fight for like, P12.
You don’t have to understand it all at once.
So please don’t stress…
Confused about DRS? You’ll get it.
Not sure why everyone argues about tire strategy? Give it time.
Because the best part of loving this sport is there’s always more to learn.
CAN I GET A WOOHOO??

Now where was I...
Oh yeah -
You’re ALLOWED to love the off-track drama.
Some fans will tell you that if you care about the team rivalries, press conference moments, and paddock gossip, you’re not here for the “right reasons.”
But guess what?
F1 has always been part sport, part scandal.
The drama, the mind games, the tension that spills over on and off track? That’s part of what makes it so addictive.
If you’re here for the racing? Great.
If you’re here for the characters, the politics, the ridiculous radio messages? Also great.
If you love both? Even better.
This sport has layers. You can love it for all of them.
And you belong here just the same as anyone else!

I felt like this was particularly important to talk about today, with the new season of Drive to Survive coming out.
Because all fans deserve to feel like they're welcome as fans.
What to Expect From Drive to Survive Season 7
If you’re wondering which episode will be the most chaotic, most emotional, or most entertaining, here’s a look at what this season is covering:
Episode 1: Business As Usual
Episode 2: Frenemies
Episode 3: Looking Out For Number 1
Episode 4: Carlos Signs
Episode 5: Le Curse of Leclerc
Episode 6: Wheels of Fortune
Episode 7: In The Heat Of The Night
Episode 8: Elbows Out
Episode 9: Under New Management
Episode 10: End Game
I think we can expect A LOT of drama, heartbreak, wheel-to-wheel racing, and probably at least one moment that’s going to be exaggerated beyond belief (because like, we know Netflix by now)
But that’s part of the fun ;)

Loved this read! And so so true, all you have to do is love the sport and you're in. Thank you for highlighting this ❤️
This was amazing. Thank you
Love love love this
